Pediatric Dentistry
Founder’s message
As a paediatric dentist, I highly advise every parent to comprehend the necessity of treating or avoiding dental decay in milk teeth, which is just as crucial as treating and preventing tooth decay in permanent teeth.
A child’s first teeth are their most priceless possession. Milk teeth are important for feeding, phonetics, aesthetics, and maintaining the space for permanent teeth in youngsters. A kid may have pain and swelling from problems with their milk teeth, which can make them unable to chew or speak properly or even change how they look.
Children’s oral health is influenced by parental knowledge, attitudes, and beliefs, which makes the child’s dental environment complex. As the children’s primary carers, parents should be knowledgeable about the primary teeth, their care, and maintenance in order to instill confidence in their offspring. For their children, parents make decisions. At the age of 5 to 6 years, children’s oral hygiene improves in direct proportion to the mother’s attitude towards dental health. It is crucial to assess the attitudes and knowledge of the parents because these factors may influence how they behave with regard to their child’s oral health.

Treatments for Childrens
Preventive Dentistry
“Prevention is better than cure” – Preventive dentistry is the modern way of helping your child keep a healthy mouth. It helps your child to keep your teeth, and means you need to have less dental treatment. The two main causes of tooth loss are decay and gum disease. The better you prevent or deal with these two problems, the more chance you will have of keeping your teeth for life.
Restorative Dentistry
Zirconia Crowns
- Zirconia crowns are tooth coloured crowns which looks esthetically pleasing. Zirconia crowns are used to restore both front and back milk tooth
White Fillings
- We commonly use white fillings to restore front and back baby teeth and adult teeth in cases of decay or to repair broken down teeth.
Stainless steel crowns
- When your child’s molar teeth are affected by chalky teeth, extensive decay we usually recommend stainless steel crowns.
Special Care Dentistry
- Our paediatric dentist Dr. Sibikar P, has extensive expertise providing children with exceptional needs with high-quality dental care. This includes kids who suffer from anxiety, dental phobia, physical, genetic, or developmental problems as well as sensory or motor impairment.
- We know that children with special needs require additional care, assistance, and attention when visiting the dentist. As a result, Beaumont Dental team collaborate with you to develop a customised management plan for your child's needs.
Sports Dentistry
One of the newest and most promising areas of dentistry is sports dentistry. It mostly entails the prevention and treatment of orofacial injuries and oral disorders related to athletics. The sports or team dentist helps athletes with mouth injury prevention, treatment, and diagnosis. Wearing basic protection equipment, such as properly fitting helmets, face masks, and/or mouth guards, is the most important factor in reducing sports-related orofacial injuries. The most frequent orofacial injury suffered while participating in sports is a dental injury
Dental Trauma
- Dental trauma is common in children as this is the time when they learn to walk and run and are active in sport.
- Baby Teeth Trauma – If a child’s baby teeth are knocked out during activities, the injury may have affected other teeth, gums or bone. Although this would not be classified as an emergency, you should consult our surgery as soon as possible.
- Permanent Teeth Trauma – If a child’s permanent teeth are knocked out, it should be considered a severe dental emergency, and you should contact us immediately for instructions
Pediatric Minor Oral Surgery
- Minor oral surgery consists of short-duration surgical procedures that are usually carried out under local anaesthetic. Many oral surgical procedures in children are similar to adults as the basic principles are the same. The most common minor oral surgical procedures undertaken in children are:
- Primary Teeth Extraction
- Frenectomy (removal of the tissue fold that attaches the tongue or lips to the jawbone) mostly called as tongue tie
- Infection Treatment
General Anaesthesia
Getting your child treated under general anesthesia is completely safe.
- The situations in which we may recommend general anaesthetic include:
- When a child is anxious and not likely to cope for the dentist to complete the dental treatment safely
- If a child needs dental treatment which needs to be completed in one appointment
- When we need to perform complex dental procedures
- For a child who is too young to follow directions or understand
- For a child with special needs
